At Patriot Leasing Company, LLC, we want to help you during this process, and depending on how far out you have from the date that you need your next vehicle, there are some helpful tips that we can suggest as well to make it an easier process for you to help you.

1.       Credit History Reports

Make sure to pull a “Credit History Report” our yourself from all 3 of the major credit bureaus: Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. This will allow you to be aware of your current credit score and give yourself an opportunity to clear up any possible mistakes or pay off smaller items that are affecting your credit score in a negative fashion.

2.       Compare Your Credit Reports.

Make sure to look at a 3 of your credit reports and compare them. Make sure to look for any big discrepancies that stand out. If one report has a much lower score, it may have outdated information, which you can dispute directly with the credit agency and get your score adjusted to become a higher score.

3.       Revaluate Your Desired Vehicle.

Sometimes the price of your desired vehicle is simply too high to get approval on. Sometimes, if you choose a cheaper vehicle, this can help with the approval process. This is smart from a risk perspective and can sometimes just be common sense for anyone trying to save money. The lesser amount of money that is tied up in the vehicle lease, the less risk is involved for the dealership and it can make is easier lease it to someone with bruised, damaged, or bad credit.

4.       Adjust Your Down Payment.

The down payment can play a significant role on the vehicle lease approval process. If you can offer a larger down payment, this can help sway the lease approval for your favor. Traditionally, a 20% and possibly up to 40-50%, depending on your credit score. Though it can harder to come up with a larger down payment, it can make the desired vehicle cheaper in the end of the lease.

5.       Add on a Co-Signer To The Lease.

In some cases, based upon all the criteria combined of: credit score, down payment and desired vehicle, sometimes it is needed to add an additional signer to the lease. If you consider a Co-Signer, this might help get the payment and the terms closer to your desired amount and length of term. If you have a relative or friend with good credit who is willing to co-sign, it can help in the process by establishing less risk for the contract terms.
